AV Receiver?
Most home cinema systems use an AV receiver to switch between their audio/video sources (typically a DVD player/recorder and auxiliary sources such as a Sky/Freeview/cable set-top box or games console). The receiver also powers the speakers, decodes digital multi-channel audio soundtracks and the very latest examples can even improve the quality of your video sources.
